Karen Lange, AIA, LEED AP BD+C is promoted to Associate Partner. Having worked in a variety of sectors, she enjoys the collaborative nature of working in a team and bringing a design to life, no matter the project size or type. Karen is a mentor for junior staff, a volunteer with Architects in Schools, and a member of Waterleaf's B Corp advisory board and a recipient of the 2017 DJC Women of Vision Award.
Ellen Krusi, AIA is promoted to Associate. She is interested in the social aspect of how buildings shape communities and has been a fearless leader of the Waterleaf design team for Portland Winter Light Festival installations. Ellen is also involved with the firm’s B Corp advisory board.
Emily Refi, LEED AP is promoted to Associate. A recipient of the 2019 DJC Women of Vision award, Emily has a focus on design and mentoring, including time spent teaching studio classes at the University of Oregon’s Portland location. She has contributed her versatile design skills and expertise to multiple endeavors at Waterleaf since 2013, including residential, commercial, community, and transit station design projects.
David Donaldson, AIA is promoted to Associate. David gravitates towards projects that contribute to the community fabric, are both environmentally and socially sustainable and exhibit high quality materials and craftsmanship.
