Waterleaf provided initial architectural and interior designs for Domaine Serene’s Wine Lounge in Bend, Oregon. Working with Domaine Serene, the team outlined the core concepts of how the lounge is organized and how to best take advantage of the unique character and fabric of the historic D.H. Spheir Builidng, such as the expression of existing lava rock walls, brick walls, and original Douglas Fir roof framing.  The organization of the 6370 sf lounge is centered around a tall wine display which serves as a backdrop to the Tasting Bar, knitting together both the main level and the new mezzanine that was created. Waterleaf continued through the project as Domaine Serene’s Executive Architect, providing recommendations and reviews of the further development of the design and documentation by the Architect of Record, BLRB Architects of Bend, Oregon.  Photo credit: Schommers & Sons
